GAZA, Apr 11, 2001 (Xinhua via COMTEX) -- Israeli fighters and helicopters Wednesday afternoon fired two missiles on the Gaza Strip, a Xinhua correspondent reported.
No reports of causalities are available so far.
The Israeli helicopters are stilling hovering over the city of Gaza, the report said.
In an overnight raid Tuesday, Israeli ground forces entered the Palestinian Khan Yunis refugee camp in the southern Gaza Strip and destroyed 11 buildings suspected of serving as bases for Palestinian mortar attacks on Israeli settlements and army positions.
Two Palestinians were killed and more than 50 others were injured in the attacks.
This was the first time that the Israeli army entered the area under full Palestinian control since the outbreak of the current Palestinian Intifada, or uprising, against Israel six months ago.
More than 450 people, most of them Palestinians, have been killed, and thousands more wounded since the Palestinian uprising began last September.
