Increased Visitorship to Travel Sites With chanbrothers.com as Singapore's Top Travel Site, NetValue Reports

SINGAPORE, Apr 12, 2001 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- Visitors to online travel sites increased in Singapore across the months of January and February 2001, according to new figures released by global Internet measurement company NetValue.

Online travel sites attracted 95,420 unique users in February compared to 71,330 in January.

"There was a slight increase in the average number of sessions logged onto the travel sites, from 3.1 to 3.4 sessions across January and February 2001, respectively. The duration at the travel sites showed a more significant increase, from 16.8 minutes per user in January 2001 to 22.8 minutes in February 2001," said Dr Jack Loo, NetValue Singapore Country Manager.

Chanbrothers.com topped the online travel sector with a reach of 2.8% (or 22,170 unique visitors) to travel sites in February 2001. This represented a significant growth in visitorship, up from 14,100 Internet users in December 2000.

"Our findings also indicated that people are spending more time at the site. Time spent at chanbrothers.com also increased from an average of 9.6 minutes in December 2000 to 22.3 minutes in February 2001," said Dr. Jack Loo.

Foreign online travel banners received considerable exposures with the Singapore Internet audience, with travelscape.com, skyauction.com and trip.com appearing in NetValue's top three advertising spots for the online travel sector. Travelscape.com attracted 17,380 individuals in the month of February 2001. Skyauction.com trailed in a distant second place with 13,200 unique visitors, followed by trip.com with 12,870 individuals across the same referenced period.
