I don't disagree with much that you say in that post. However, I wouldn't be so quick to write them off in optical. The mainstay of the optical line, Cerent, was estimated to produce between 3 and 7 billion. If they hit the lower end, that's a triple of their optical from last year. Also over 50% of the payback from the two purchases, Cerent and Monterey. I think the Fed has still failed to act responsibly, and continuing to guage the economy on old data is digging our hole deeper than previously thought. talk about taking off the rose colored glasses. They seem to be the only ones mentioning second-half recovery. As for competition, I believe the emerging companies are overblown. If JNPR has 30% of the router market and projects $1.3B in revs, then we're talking $4B market for routers this year. Obviously, CSCO has a helluva lot more going for them since they are doing approx. $24B this year according to most recent downgrades. And even if they have financed some of the sales, and some go under, as much as that has been pointed out, they stated they are being more scrutinous(?) in those dealings. I continue to hope that Chambers stuck to his gun and stayed away from the non-profitable deals so margins don't drop too much. Long for almost 8 years.knc
