Mike: Thanks for your thoughtful reply (as usual BTW). I have found over the years, that you can be counted on for quality of thought, analysis and content. That's why I asked for comment.

Actually while I think quality is the sin qua non for the Gorilla Game, I do agree that the idea of quality vs valuation is the wrong emphasis. (Still wish there were useful quantitative proxies for quality)

One of the reasons for the focus on valuation is that it does lend itself to numerical analysis. And that satisfies a "felt need" as the old saying went.

Perhaps if there were some way to play with quality measurements in ways similar to the role of free cash flow in valuation, quality would be more of a focus.

One of the greatest strengths of the Gorilla Game IMO is exactly its focus on a system to choose quality companies.
