If a term is to have any meaning, it has to have at least some agreed definition. Otherwise it becomes a meaningless sound. Which maybe leftist has become.
The definitions you provided really don't say a thing about what the philosophy of political liberalism or the political left is. The nearest they come is "Not limited to or by established, traditional, orthodox, or authoritarian attitudes, views, or dogmas;" but that also applies to some right wingers who aren't limited by established attitudes in some of their creative ways of imposing their beliefs, whereas the PC anti-1st Amendment crowd is as authoritarian as it's possible to get.
And as to liberal being defined as liberal giving, as one who has been a fundraiser for many NP groups over the years I can tell you that if you want to raise money, even for traditionally liberal social causes like food banks and battered womens shelters, for both of which I have raised money, you'll get a lot more out of right wingers than left wingers.
