( BW)(DICTAPHONE/INTEL) Dictaphone announces plans to use Intel Miniature Cards in new Digital Portable Recorders
Business Editors
STRATFORD, Conn.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--July 2, 1996--Dictaphone Corp. announced today its plans to utilize Intel's Miniature Cards in its future family of Digital Portable Recorders. Dictaphone will focus its initial marketing efforts for its Digital Portable Recorders at the huge base of existing portable users within healthcare, legal, insurance, and at the ever mobile professional PC business user. "Through the utilization of Intel's Miniature Card technology, Dictaphone is now able to provide all the benefits of digital voice storage and voice file management, with direct integration and compatibility with their centralized voice processing systems or any PC. Once stored in a digital format, voice information can be manipulated, transported, and archived on a platform of existing networks and PCs," said Ron Elwell, vice president, marketing & product development. "The need for a portable voice-based link to the PC is clear. Voice applications offer levels of speed of interaction and access to information not possible in a 'keyboard only' environment. This holds true for both Dictaphone's core business -- Voice and Data Management -- as well as for the entire PC market," indicated Ron Elwell. The first Recorder in the Dictaphone family of Digital Portables will be introduced early in 1997. The Dictaphone family of Digital Portable Recorders will provide the perfect store-and-forward solution for any application involving voice. They will add portability, and the ability to rapidly download/upload verbal information for transcription or management of voice files within the PC environment. Dictaphone is a leader in the development, manufacture, marketing, service, and support of Integrated Voice and Data Management (IVDM(TM)) systems and software, which include communications recording, dictation, voice processing, voice response, unified messaging, records management, and court room recording. Dictaphone has a worldwide marketing, sales, service, and support organization in over 190 U.S. cities, Canada, the United Kingdom, Switzerland, Belgium, Germany, France, and Italy, and dedicated dealers in 40 other countries. Company sales revenues in 1995 were approximately $353 million. Information about Dictaphone and its products is also available on the World Wide Web at dictaphone.com.
