Whose Free Lunch--The Truth About the Reagan Deficits by Stephen Moore on 10/01/96 Synopsis: In this report, economist Stephen Moore compares the budget requests of presidents Gerald Ford through Bill Clinton. Among the interesting findings are these: (1) The bulk of the deficit that built up during the Reagan administration was due to Congressional appropriations, not Reagan budget requests. Had Reagan's vetos been upheld, and his recissions honored, the deficit would have been significantly lower; and (2) that Bill Clinton is the first president in a generation to outspend Congress, outspending both the Democrat 103rd Congress, and the Republican 104th Congress. ipi.org ____________________________________________________
Rewriting history is a convenient tool of the left in America today, but any thinking America, who witnessed the flip-flop over Clinton's 'we can't balance the budget in 7 years, I mean 8 years, I mean 9 years, I mean 10 years' without inflicting draconian measures, "starve children, starve the elderly, kill us all with pollution," etc. Remembers well who forced who's hand to bring fiscal sanity in Washington. We also remember which party screamed bloody murder when a balanced budget amendment was brought up for a vote.
Have an enjoyable read Scrumbria. Sorry, it's something you won't likely see in the popular press, or on Dan Rathers nightly Democrat talk show.
