All it takes is a couple design winds for Xscale in 3G cellphones (which sooner or later will have to happen), and we'll see an extra few 100 million CPU sales per year. Admittedly the margins are lower than Pentium, but then again, the shelf life of the processors is longer as well (compared to CPUs).

I could easily see over 1b$ extra profit (and at least 2-3x that revenue) from their Xscale CPUs into the cellphone market over the next 2-3 years. Currently there is no handheld CPU that can match the price/performance/power of the StrongARM/Xscale.

The Compaq iPAQ sales will be a high visibility icing on the cake.
