that "train to baltimore" line i borrowed rather liberally from don rickles, from one of the old dean martin roasts. howard cosell was the 'honoree' that night, as i recall.

muhammed ali was on the dais, along with nipsy russell, slappy white, redd foxx, sammy davis jr, and others. rickles came up to the podium and, looking at the above-mentioned guests remarked,

"i'd like to thank all the lovely black folks on the dais tonight. you're all here having a great time and the train to baltimore doesn't have anyone to serve lunch!"
