Friday Apr 13 2001 News Release

Mr. Raul Madrid reports
Conquistador Mines has received notice from AngloGold South America of its decision to withdraw, within the next 30 days, from the Colombian regional project owned and operated by the company's subsidiary, Corona Goldfields S.A.
The unfortunate state of the gold market, as well as the junior mining industry and the continuing difficulties in Colombia, obviously contribute adversely to the company's ability to raise further financing for its Colombian activities. However, the company will use its best efforts in the immediate future to attempt to raise further financing for its Colombian activities. If it is not possible to attain the required financing, the company will be forced to abandon its Colombian subsidiary (Corona Goldfields S.A.) and its properties and programs in Colombia.
As a result of the above, the company's primary emphasis is expected to be on its platinum-palladium efforts in Nevada and its optioned properties known as "Key West" and "Great Eastern." In this regard, as previously reported, the company is proceeding with its agreement to grant an option on these properties to Consolidated Epix Technologies Ltd. However, there is no assurance that this further financing agreement will be successfully completed.
If adequate financing is not attained in the future, the viability of the current share structure would be in doubt. Without near-term financing materializing, a share consolidation as a step toward enhancing the possibility of future fundraising may be considered for recommendation to shareholders.
