"Credit" is something I am a bit familiar with:
I think it is very similar in mining to movies. Rarely does one person deserve the credit/blame. With a hit movie, credit is of course taken by the star, producer & director -- but also for "developing" the project by the Studio Chief, Motion picture division president, One or two "creative VPs", and the lowly "story editor", who may be the only corporate person that ever read the script.
In modern mining, as I understand it, it is just not possible that a single person "discovers" a mine. Often old orebodies are being "rediscovered" in the light of new technology. Often Jr's pick up a property from smaller Jr's/prospectors, get a little more evidence, and then in turn are "discovered" by yet another company, and eventually JV'd or taken over by a "major"... Along the way, a lot of technology and often years go into it becoming a "discovery".
And so this is part of "development" of a project; which then can go on for decades, I believe even past production, such as expanding an orebody, definining it, optimising recovery methods. Whether a professional involved is in the field on a team targeting a preliminary or advanced drill/recovery program or in the corporate offices on a preliminary, intermediete or already working "mine" I believe it would be fine to list them under a heading "Discoveries/Developments" as I believe it is understood this is something various professionals _participate in_...
