You are implying that the indexes are some sort of propaganda tool to sell stock rather than an effort to accurately represent in a set of numbers what is occurring in the present day market. Hi Grace. Is the above any different than the myriad observations during any single trading day that "they" are "jamming the futures" or "they ran that up in the last 15 minutes"? If markets can be and are manipulated (assuming one accepts that as fact), why would the promulgation of an Index be any different? I've always enjoyed your posts. Have a good weekend. -dave
