hi gott

here is an experiment that anyone who is having trouble recreating the 'old url problem' can try....

because it seems that once the url is placed into si it somehow gets translated, and thus, becomes new, or valid, i've postd an url below and left off the beginning portion of the url, in order to prevent the url from turning into a hyperlink and being translated.

the portion i have left off of the beginning is....

http://

here is the remainder of the url....

talk.techstocks.com/~wsapi/investor/reply?s=subject22366+dell&sreply=11851624

now, to complete this little experiment, simply copy and paste the two parts of the old url into a browser window address bar and try to open it. it should fail to take you beyond the si home page.

but if the two components are reunited into one complete url here in si, the resulting link will work.

techstocks.com

all of which proves catlady's point that dumping old si urls into a post will translate them, or make them current.

[edit: quite literally, the urls are not 'made current', but they will work from within si. the new 'translated' url would then have to be resaved.]

obsessively yours,

:)
