Well the DELL finally got out of the Dell No-Progress zone and arrived last night Having a 1600 by 1200 screen is wonderful. Unfortunately, some sites such as MSN max out at 800x600 or 1024x768 so you're looking at half a screen. Saw the SI beta message on the home page for the first time today and found it to have the same problem as MSN so I sent them a feedback note.

While looking around trying to find the registry entry to disable Windows File Protection in Win2K, I saw the following:

The UDMA66 mode is disabled by default on a Windows 2000 computer with a Intel chipset that supports UDMA66.
support.microsoft.com

Support for ATA 100 (Mode 5 ) in Windows 2000

Maybe SCSI 160 is the way to go. Buying these high performance ATA boxes and getting hamstrung by the disk drive which windows seems to use more and more.
