I don't think China will invade Taiwan. What good is it to them to have a smoldering rock in the middle of the sea?

I think Taiwan and China will make nice if for no other reason than it is a pain in the ass to fly through Hong Kong every time you want to go from Taipei to mainland China. Once this hurdle is overcome, it will only be another 15-25 years of posturing and rhetoric before both parties agree to become "one China".
