It depends a great deal on the Marketing in place. If the
Marketing is already in placethen it must be overcome which is
sometimes impossible.

Several years ago Sears tried to appeal to a more upscale
shopper and featured for what was apparently not the typical
Sears Client a very expensive Fashion area in their stores. They
lost a great deal of money and suffered greatly at the "Bottom
Line"and had to abandon it at a substantial loss.

The comparison of the "Air Jordans" is not a good one as it
relates to peer pressure and this pressure is great. My son informed
me a few years ago when we were shopping for Tennis shoes that
the other kids and himself could tell just by looking at the shoe
whether it was the more current version or a previous model no matter
how new and whether it was discontinued etc. just by looking at
it.These kids if given a certain budget for clothes will spend the
increased cost for the "Air Jordan" and less on the rest of the
clothes.
