Most people don't like to face the possibility that their dismissal was their fault or their lacking in some way. That's life. Companies that cutback strictly on salary don't survive long if they are in the creative field. Homogenous labor types of businesses probably don't have that kind of a situation. (I hope I used the proper word there) They don't really care about labor in the same way, but it makes economic sense the way they look at it. What difference does it make to them who hammers the nail into the car fender? As long as its done properly, that's all that counts businesswise. So a 10 dollar an hour man is actually more valuable to a company than a 15 dollar an hour man, if you see the logic there. they both do the same job, the same way, but the company saves $5.oo/hr on the cheaper one. Of course that's one of the reasons why god made unions.
