I will qualify: deaf people who consider themselves part of the deaf community.

Not all deaf do.

But if you get into it, it's an astonishing subculture. I knew very little about it until my daughters started taking ASL. Now I have read some of their assigned texts on the deaf community, and I can tell you, it's astonishing.
