| So purchase Qualcomm shares expecting that you can sell them, hopefully at a higher price, to someone else when you want. And that person then purchases these Qualcomm shares from you for the same reason. This is the dynamic of the greater fool theory, but not necessarily the Greater Fool Theory itself because "greater fools" purchase stock not caring about company's fundamentals, unlike the deluded Qualcomm cheerleaders who have half a clue. Nonetheless, no one owning Qualcomm receives any of Qualcomm's profits, which vexes me. I only want to be an owner or part owner of a business if I can share in its profits. Qualcomm shareholders, it would seem, only care that they can sell their stock to someone else when they want to. Since there is a market for Qualcomm's stock, comprised of other like-minded souls who don't care if they share in Qualcomm's profits, you're in luck. As for me, few things in life give me more pleasure than receiving my dividend checks in the mail, or brokerage account. And they keep getting larger every year. This is a pleasure that may be forever beyond the experience of Qualcomm shareholders, however. If that's the way you like it, more power to you! |
