Does Amati's patent for the ANSI std. DMT chip have any financial significance ? I see all these newcomers announcing DMT chips and no talk of any licensing from AMATI. What about AWARE's chip ? Is it being licensed from AMATI ? Another question is if there are somany varieties of ADSL, which one will the RBOC's choose. Don't they have to install ADSL eqpt. at their end ? Then if they choose Pairgains variety of ADSL will the AMATI modem work ? I see a whole big mess here. Frankly I wonder if wireless will do the job before these players get their act together.
