Ron Powell apologized for forcing pornography onto a subordinate when he was a laboratory Director under Richard 'Dick' Levy, then an Executive Vice President of Varian reporting to J. Tracy O'Rourke. The sexually explicit pornography which was presented as evidence during his video taped deposition showed a bare breasted female with her head tilted back sucking onto a rather large fruit-like object. While we hope that none of this is happening in Novellus Systems where Mr. Powell holds a powerful managerial position, this becomes yet another documented episode in Varian's legendary hostile work environment.
