Though I've been doing nicely on spread trades while still being committed to a long-term hold, I had to reevaluate my stance a bit more than a week ago when one of the several tech stocks I follow dropped too temptingly low and Weisel came out with the nasty components report. So with a sigh I sold more than 12K of KEM in the 17's (which'll coat my Schedule D with blood) and bought QLogic (QLGC)at about 20. I felt that QLGC would have lots more bounce than KEM in the inevitable tech rally to come, although KEM likely provides greater safety. So far I'm looking more clever than I really am and am hoping that the Nasdaq continues (as I think it will) to rally for another week or two before settling down. Re KEM, I suspect that there'll be lots of time to get back in.
