John,

Thank you for your response. It is interesting to hear the real reasons for investor valuation of Intel. I was hoping that you would respond to this discussion as I'm sure the first priority of your job is to increase the percieved valuation relative to earnings.

It is important to investors in Intel that the information you release be very close to actual performance. In the long run it will pay off with less volitility and thus a higher PE.

As a stockholder of both MSFT and INTC I've always been amazed that the valuations could be so far apart. Both companies are dependent on the same product cycles, both benefit from the sales of almost each PC. Win 95 begets Pentium; Win NT begets Pentium Pro, etc. Net margins are similar. Yet the PE of Intel is about 35% that of Microsoft?

Could you comment on the perception vs. reality of Intel as a cyclical company (I noted that you used the word predictability, cyclical is probobly a 4-letter word in your office).

Thank you (and Intel) for your participation in this forum. It is effective, I have more confidence in my long term Intel holdings as a result of your comments.

John
