T, Ouch! I am sure your sister is a strong professional and all that jazz, but I would hate to have to deal with those kinds of sad stories regularly in my work. You know, $800,000 is a small fortune. Just putting it in closed end preferreds would have netted the woman over $56,000 a year for the rest of her life. I suppose the fella was an independent operator? That is one reason why I am putting a firm with deep pockets behind me. The independent operator may be honest and competent, but, if he isn't, there isn't much recourse after the moolah is gone.
