Off Topic (but hey – it’s a weekend!)

I feel honored to have seen Miles a number times, even if he hated me because of the color of my skin, I could look past it, and enjoy his music.

That’s a pretty strong statement. I think if that were really true, he wouldn’t have collaborated with the likes of Gil Evans, Chick Corea, Bill Evans, Dave Holland, Joe Zawinul, John McLaughlin, and countless others.

I always preferred thinking of Miles Davis as a provocateur. To be sure, he loved causing a stir and making controversial statements, but I think it’s a little extreme, especially without knowing the man, to say that he “hated” white people.

Agree with you entirely about his music. I still think his classic quintet sessions were some of the best jazz recordings ever produced.

Here’s hoping NTAP keeps Cookin’ and Steamin’! :-)

PS: On a truly trivial note, it's kind of funny to look at Miles Davis' hairstyles through the years. For a while, he had very little hair, but then all of a sudden, he started looking like Diana Ross! Hmmm... ;-)
