Hi Ten and Thread, RE: "out for how long now?"

Fortunately, the downturn is giving Intel a little bit of breathing room to crank up its manufacturing ramp on P4.

If the economy hadn't experienced a downturn, Intel could have lost market share if it couldn't have produced enough P4's to meet demand in what was formerly an overheated economy. (If you can't produce enough, you can lose market share. So, the downturn has some pluses for Intel, at the moment.)

From a marketing perspective, I see the P4 price cuts as an excellent strategy to implement if there are less costly P4's around the corner on the .13. Higher volumes at lower costs can be a powerful combination. Ditto for memory.

I also think the XP+P4 will be a powerful combination for future quarters.

Not sure I quite understand what rabbit AMD will be able to pull out of its hat to counter these various powerful combinations.

Happy Easter everyone !

Regards,
Amy J
