KT,

The Derby preps were very entertaining - of course that means I won some money. :-)

The only one of the 3 races I bet was the Blue Grass. I had the winner - Millenium Wind at $10.20. That was the only race that I has some view on the odds being out of line.

I thought they overbet AP Valentine by a lot. His only claim to fame was his win in the Champagne last year and that wasn't nearly as good as it looks. There was a duel in front of him and he simply snuck through along the rail. I think he's been very overrated all along.

The LA Derby was a pretty good prep a few weeks back, but everyone was focusing on the bad trip that Dollar Bill had. Sure, he was virtually eliminated, but I thought Millenium Wind ran a huge race also. He was pretty wide and pressing the pace all the way, but hung in there very well. Dollar's Bill's best race didn't look much better that Millenium Wind's effort that day.

MW had a variety of aches and pains that hampered his training this spring. It's also pretty clear that he's very talented based on his record - especially the very game 2nd to Point Given right after Breeder's Cup. Since the last race he was working like all the problems were behind him. Coming into this race I was expecting a much improved effort. I thought he would stalk Songandaprayer (who I was very worried about). When MW got loose on the lead it was pretty much over.

I'm happy to report that I'm doing very well since I upped my betting level. It hasn't hampered my decision making. That's something I was worried about.

Baffert looks like he has a pretty good one/two punch.

Wayne
