Do your own DD. Look at the timing of the energy crisis start after Bush's nomination. Read the minutes from the oil companies stockholders meetings lately. Look at the complete dismantling of regulations protecting air, water and wilds. Look at the cuts in production OPEC made. Think about how much clout Bush-Cheney have at OPEC. Look at what they are not saying about much higher fuel costs. Look who gains. Then look at who gave Buch-Cheney all their soft money. Look what Bush-Cheney's recordss in the oil business. Look at Cheney's voting record and how he left government to head a major oil services company. Look at Bush has actually be "joking" about California's energy crisis. Look at how during the campaign he promised to uphold pollution regulations and handle OPEC. Look at them scrapping clean fuel programs and efficientcy programs (which can save a lot more than all the drilling he wants to do). Look at Cheney's statements during the campaign about wanting to drill off the Florida, N. Carolina and California coasts.
Who benefits? They do. Who loses. We do. Unless we work in the energy business we lose. According to the BP shareholders meeting article Bush-Cheney WANT and LIKE the energy crisis and are encouraging it continue so they can push their unpopular programs past congress and voters who actually care about our environment. Bush-Cheney don't. The enviroinment is their enemy. Anyone who cares about is it their enemy. They are trying to beat us by making energy so expensive that we have no choice but to let them build al their polluting plants and drill in our most pristine places. For Republicans to support this business is dirty, egregious and blindly partisan. It doesn't help anyone but energy insiders. He hurts everyone else. Conservation and efficiency can save 20% right now across the board. Not one word has been uttered about that by Bush or Cheney. Ask yourself why? Ask youself who benefits. Just common sense. They're not even trying that hard to hide it. They just don't give a damn about anything but more $$$$ for their cronies. And when they get out of office that money will be theirs too.
