OT: I haven't lost money in ten whole days. And hoping that streak continues. And Marvin, before you go complaining to "teacher" do a search to see how many times I've been attacked by shorts and right-wingers who support pollution. Maybe 100 times this month? You'll be amazed to see every post this weekend (except this one where you talk about me instead of posting me) is in response to an attack or question. And I erase half my attack posts rather than stooping to their level. I don't mind taking on shorts or anyone who wants to further reduce the quality of our environment or rob us with gouging and collusion.
I support McCain just as much as I supported Gore and I supported Gore because I've met him, spoken to him and seen the man in action. He's nothing like Republicans described him. Unfortunately though Gore won the popular vote he's gone so he's irrelevant for the time being, McCain and campaign finance reform being the main issue along with energy gouging and corruption (which is connected). Because soft money created a situation where the oil industry virtually runs our executive branch and is giving signals and support to every polluter in the world to go ahead and JUST DO IT. Do you really want that? Ask yourself? Is that why you voted for Bush? And do you really think he will ever want lower energy prices? He's serving his cronies not us and that should be illegal. In fact it will be once campaign finance reform passes because he won't "owe the boys" his allegiance anymore. He'll have to raise his money from actual individuals. It's called democracy. I'm not anti-corporation, I'm anti corruption, and the last time we saw this kind of thing was the S+L debacle which I know a lot about. It was all hatched in the same type environment when no one was watching the chicken coop and they let the foxes (and pigs) in. And it cost us all plenty, thousands each. If our grandkids pay off that debt we'll be lucky. Now the energy bump-up could be just as costly going forward (and worse ravage our environment), which is why I'm voicing my opinion about this "new American cartel" running our government.
I can't help but conclude that once I feel my stocks have peaked in mid May (hopefully), I may hold my nose and switch into oil stocks for the summer, not because I support them but because I too am a capitalist, and if they're robbing me I might as well get a partial refund. This is a gigantic re-distribution of wealth and power going on, less wealth and power to the people, more to the fat cats and energy business. Count on it. And expect this to be a very major issue for the next four years and beyond. The only good news is that people will eventually figure all this out and vote the bums out of office. They lied to us (promising a cleaner environment and do do something about energy costs) and they will pay. But first, we will pay, All of us nomatter which party you prefer. If McCain had been your man none of this would be happening. Bush ran on more honesty and integrity but look at what we are getting instead. And the economy will suffer for it as well (except in Texas and a few other spots). The nergy business gave the GOP 40 million and now they're getting back maybe 400 billion. Is that fair? Do you really like that? Can anyone defend that as these are very unpopular programs being crammed down our throats? I think not.
Don't post me if you don't want a response, or take it to another board. |
