It makes you wonder if someone will take up Kilby's research. Maybe I will send an email off to TI and ask.

Here is an interesting company. They are working in efficient solar cells, but also a solar driven reverse osmosis system for desalination and, most interesting, a device to produce fuel from solar and CO2 - analogous to photosynthesis.
