Sorry that my post was so unclear about the order entry problem. Etrades' software clearly corrupted my order.

What really burnt me, and says a lot about E-trade, is that they dumped the inquiry that was supposedly initiated as a result of my first call.

In the past, I was told that an inquiry would be made, only to find when I followed up that there was no record of any having been started. It almost seems that there is a policy to lose the initial complaint in the hope that it fades away.
