First Union to buy Wachovia (now we know why they sold off the credit card division 2 weeks ago to ONE)...

quote.bloomberg.com

The union may be controversial because of the small size of the share premium for which Wachovia has agreed to sell, the paper said. First Union is expected to offer about two of its shares for each share of Wachovia, valuing Wachovia at about $63.84 a share, the paper said, citing people familiar with the matter. Wachovia closed Thursday at $60.20 a share.

Makes me say, "HMMMM". Wonder what stench-ridden debt bomb was hidden in their (Wachovia's) books to go out for such a crummy primo?
