My husband pointed out to me this a.m.
that the new catchphrase is "bottoming process".
By using this phrase, rather than declaring that
the bottom is in, the speaker can be right
no matter what happens.

If the stocks go lower, obviously the bottoming
process is incomplete. If higher, perhaps the
process is almost complete.
