Jim and all, informal P3 vs. P4 results from a friend rendering a 3D scene (using 3D Studio Max, IIRC):

Pentium III, 933 MHz: 13 min.
Pentium 4, 1.5 GHz: 8-9 min.

Of course, if you believe Bert McComatose, that P4 processor must be clock-throttled, since obviously a hefty job like 3D rendering would stress the processor beyond its thermal tolerances, right?

P.S. - Each system has 512M of memory. No word on graphics cards, etc. And yes, my friend had to pay a pretty penny for half a gig of RDRAM.
