he German Shorthair Pointer or German Braco was developed in Germany since the XVII century by breeders who were looking for a dog that could be used in several types of hunts, that was a skilled pointer and most of all, fast.

That doesn't sound like the descriptions in books that I've read. Most important in shorthairs that I know of is that they were bred to be the family pet and dog for the man who hunts. There were a lot of dogs that were bred for rich people...English Pointers, Retrievers, etc. and they all had a specific job which they did well. Shorthairs were not ever bred for the rich. They were bred for the average person. The short hair and docked tail is the result of helping make it a good dog for inside the house. They were always meant to be a Versatile Hunting Dog. In other words; they were meant and trained to do any kind of hunting. And they do it all extremely well. They were always meant to spend the night inside the house with the family.

In German...the dog is called..... Deutsche Kurzhaar... I don't know where your write up got it's info? I think there is something wrong with mixing shorthair info with Braco info...something wrong there. I wouldn't ever try to outrun an english pointer with a GSP. E-Pointers are tougher dogs too...not meant to live in the house...but have no lack of love for people, adults and children. In fact...I think I'd match up an E-pointer against just about any dog in running endurance...they are that good. Greyhounds and other sight hounds are faster...but I don't think they can keep up with an E-pointer for hours. And I know... Julie was an excellent runner even for a field trials dog.

I went ahead and did a search to try to find what you were talking about. I'm sure the gsp does have relations to dogs you mentioned. But I am also sure there were more dogs involved in developing the breed. They wanted the perfect hunting companion and pet for the family.

By the way... You do know that there are German Shorthaired Pointers....German Wirehair Pointers....and .... German Longhaired Pointers....
