The new Nintendo 64 bit system will probably be out some time in April, after its release in Japan. It has a customized R4000 processor running a little under 100 MHz (this processor is made by MIPS, a subsidiary of SGI). The system also has a sound and graphics coprocessor and a pixel drawing coprocessor. The primary competition for Nintendo's system will be the Sega 32 bit system and the Sony Playstation (also 32 bit), which are both currently out. Nintendo has had excellent gaming systems in the past, and although the game availability will initially be limited, Nintendo is very well supported by 3rd party game producers. I think it will be very popular since it will be the only 64 bit system on the market (Nintendo is bypassing a 32 bit system altogether).
