"We're supposed to get snow tonight. Global warming my rosy red..."

We got a thunderstorm here, which left a nice covering of snow.

Interesting aside. Back in the late 60s, a scientist came up with the theory that we are in a mini ice age. According to his theory, this mini ice age has been masking the effects of global warming. When we start to pull out of this mini ice age in about 2025, the global temperature will begin to rise very rapidly. According to this theory, by about 2070, the mean global temperature of the earth will rise to about 350 to 450 degrees farenheit.

In the early 70s they ran simulations of his theory with multiple starting conditions. Only one simulation followed his predicted pattern. It has been a long time now, so I can't remember exactly which years they were, but the single simulation that followed the pattern indicated that there would be a brief period of severe winters in an otherwise extended period of warmer years. The pattern was that we would suddenly get one very cold winter (if I recall correctly it was 78, followed by an even colder winter, then a winter that was colder than the first but warmer than the second), this would be followed by more than a decade of warmer weather. Those running the simulation stated that their confidence in the theory was very low, and that the only way it could be right is if these years followed the predicted pattern. The disturbing thing is that, when the time came, they actually did follow the predicted pattern.
