Richard, no argument about index derivatives, even though I've never heard a QQQ investor worry about PE. Most are in and out. But the way the argument "the Naz PE is too high" usually goes is to require it to go down by bringing the Naz down. That can only happen by punishing the profitable companies as well as the unprofitable ones [by decreasing all of their share prices]. Why should many companies' earnings be combined just because they trade on the same exchange? I know its a time-honored tradition to do this - and an erroneous one.
