Sewon to supply handsets to LGT Sewon Telecom said yesterday that it will supply 400,000 new handsets to LG Telecom (LGT) for CDMA (code division multiple access) 2000-1x (or also called IS-95C) services. Worth 128 billion won ($98.4 million), the handsets will be supplied under an ODM (original design manufacturing) contract, officials said. The handsets are named 'CPD510' and 'CPD520,' and were developed by Sewon Telecom with its own technology. Officials explained that these dual-folder-type handsets are enabled for CID (Caller I.D.) services and are equipped with an eight-line LCD (liquefied crystal display) and seven-color LED (light emitting diode) antennas. They are also able to play tunes incorporating 16 notes. These handsets will be available on the market from next month through LGT. "Starting with the marketing of these new models, we are planning to step up efforts to occupy the next-generation handset market," said an official of Sewon Telecom. The handset manufacturer sold a total of 583,000 handsets in the first three months of this year, including 403,000 in the domestic market and 180,000 to China and other countries.
