China Mobile Selects Portal Software to Support Interconnect Billing
Infranet Interconnect Provides High-Performance Settlement Solution for Mobile Data and Next-Generation Voice Services
CUPERTINO, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 16, 2001-- Portal Software, Inc. (Nasdaq:PRSF - news), a leading provider of business infrastructure software for next-generation communications services, today announced that China Mobile Communications Corporation has selected Portal Software's Infranet Interconnect(TM), a component of the Infranet® Wireless product line, to support settlement billing of its VoIP, WAP, GPRS and next-generation services nationwide.

As China's largest mobile operator with approximately 65 million subscribers, China Mobile is continually introducing innovative value-added network services such as VoIP and WAP content and commerce through CMNet, its own national data network. Portal Software's Infranet Interconnect software will support the increasingly stringent demands for efficient, accurate, and transparent settlement among China Mobile's provincial subsidiaries.
Upon completion, China Mobile's settlement centre will be capable of handling tens of million events per hour and deliver necessary flexibility, availability, and scalability to support next-generation wireless services for China Mobile's large customer base.
