Are you "agnostic" about it, or "atheist," I meant. I assert it with certitude.
The thing about people who call themselves agnostic when they don't actually believe there is a God-consciousness running things, is that they select, for one use only, a different standard of proof for entertaining as "possible" an assertion of the existence of an entity than they select and use universally in the normal conduct of their lives.
That perception is why I asserted that I am holding a nation in my hand, and asked whether you are, in regard to that assertion, as you are in regard to the assertion "there is a God," agnostic or atheist?
If you are agnostic about that, then all assertions are "possible," by definition, with you, and I accept that it is consistent for you to call yourself an agnostic.
And I do have a nation in my hand. Really. It's hard to explain using "reason" and "evidence" to someone who hasn't had my experiences. It's an apples and oranges sort of thing. But when I pray to it, its tiny but powerful citizens really help me a lot. Some of them tell me what everyone should do with their uteri. Once i've convinced enough people that the citizens of the nation in my hand want to rule their uteri and also be generally worshipped, watch out, world! |
