LEHIGH VALLEY, Pa., Apr 17, 2001 /PRNewswire via COMTEX/ -- Air Products and Chemicals, Inc. (NYSE: APD) and its Schumacher Electronics Division business unit (Carlsbad, California), and ATMI, Inc. (Nasdaq: ATMI) (Danbury, Connecticut) announced today that they have reached an out-of-court settlement of lawsuits pending between the parties in the Federal District Courts in Austin, Tex. and Oakland, Calif. 
  The Austin lawsuit related to ATMI patents for automated chemical delivery systems and canisters used to deliver high purity specialty materials to single or multiple semiconductor manufacturing tools and processes. The Oakland lawsuit related to the use of a chemical, DCE (trans-1,2-dichloroethylene), in processes for electronic integrated circuit manufacturing and patents on such processes held by Air Products. 
  While the terms of the settlement -- which involved both lawsuits -- are confidential, the companies confirmed today that the settlement allows each party to continue to offer the products and services which were the subject of both lawsuits. |
