"Which apps can take advantage of SSE2? Which commercial compiler can take advantage of SSE2?" Intel offers FORTRAN and C++ compilers which automatically add SSE2 optimizations to software... Given that Sharky can build a P4 "ubergaming" system for virtually the same price as he can build the K7 "ubergaming" system, I really doubt the veracity of that P4/DDR statement. I also think that RDRAM will continue to provide better performance when mated to the P4 platform because of it's better bandwidth... and given that DDR and RDRAM are at roughly the same price point now, it's a moot point. So why didn't Intel die the death when it introduced the Pentium? What commercial 32-bit compilers were there? Why buy a Pentium, when a faster version at half the price was available the next year? You're really REACHING here, you know that???
