Semi OT on net connection. I have a 56k modem. Usually get connected around 48 k...or did. All of a sudden that has been slashed to 28k on any and all access numbers. After a little modem diagnosis etc. I found my phone line has been duplexed by the local phone company ( Viacom now). They only legally owe us something like 14.4 apparently. It's probably all the active net connections around here causing the traffic jam on the phone lines.

I am eager to get broadband, but satellite is blocked by a tall building just a couple blocks south of my house. DSL is 6 houses away, but not to this home. In fact they snatched it away from a guy down the street who already had it. And though the local cable company has laid fiber optics in the neighborhood, they are not quite offering a cable modem service here yet. I'll grab the cable modem when it surfaces. The race for the last mile has slowed to a crawl around here.Hope to see iNEXTV streams in broadband someday.
