3:40 (Dow Jones) Intel's (INTC) options trading actively just before
company's earnings report later today. Volume is a little heavier on the put
side, likely because investors are seeking downside protection in this time of
slowing tech spending. At least one investor bought, for instance, more than
7,000 contracts of the July 22.50 puts, which locks in a minimum selling price
of $22.50 until mid-July. These puts gained 10 cents to $1.80 at the Amex on
volume of 7,061 contracts, compared with open interest of 9,111. (KT)
