Laryy N., Hoping for more of the same later this wk. I see FalsonStor has been added to the Q customer list...

QLogic is integrated in over 200 OEM solutions, including: AMI, Compaq, Computer Associates, DataCore, Dell, EMC, FalconStor, Fujitsu, Hitachi, HP, IBM, INRANGE, Iwill, MTI Technology Corp., Quantum, Raidtec, Siemens, Sony, Sun, Unisys, VERITAS and XIOtech.

Here is what Falconstor said at the last conference. THey are software so they probably don't consume many chips?

FalconStor Demonstrates Comprehensive iSCSI Interoperability and Mission-Critical Storage Services at Storage Networking World
Partners with industry leaders to deliver iSCSI-based storage virtualization, snapshot, mirroring, replication, and backup with high-availability
PALM DESERT, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 9, 2001-- FalconStor Software, Inc., today at Storage Networking World Spring announced a host of industry partnerships and interoperability demonstrations to illustrate the power and viability of iSCSI-based IP storage networking. The network storage infrastructure software company also announced that its groundbreaking IPStor® software will ship within 30 days, and will be previewed during the Conference from April 9 to 11 in the FalconStor Booth C514.

The iSCSI demonstrations further substantiate the strength and robustness of IPStor's architecture. The IPStor Server can be configured as the ``iSCSI initiator'' to embrace and virtualize iSCSI-ready storage devices (for example, IBM's 200i). At the same time, the IPStor Server is also an ``iSCSI target'', provisioning virtual storage capacity and management services to iSCSI-compliant application servers.

``In any IT environment, there is a strong need to reduce total cost of ownership by encouraging standards and high levels of interoperability while leveraging existing investments such as Ethernet/IP,'' said Steve Duplessie, founder of Enterprise Storage Group. ``IPStor is a strong offering that clearly addresses these issues through iSCSI compatibility with leading storage products. But most important are IPStor's storage services, which include virtualization to simplify space allocation and key-based security to protect data. All of these give customers a compelling reason to consolidate storage without further delay.''

While application servers equipped with iSCSI connectivity can interact directly with iSCSI-compliant storage devices, IPStor is the only product capable of aggregating and virtualizing iSCSI, SCSI and/or Fibre Channel storage devices and provisioning the virtualized disks to the iSCSI-ready application servers. To ensure security, manageability and lower the operating cost, IPStor supports advanced enterprise-class storage services, including active-active failover, mirroring, remote replication, snapshot, serverless backup facilitation and zero-impact backup and restore facilitation.

``Developing products that adhere to the iSCSI standard, like the iSCSI software by FalconStor, are important building blocks to the future of this new technology,'' said Paul Mattson, Business Line Manger for IP Storage, IBM Corporation, which recently announced the industry's first product line of iSCSI storage servers. ``Today's successful demonstration is proof that leading iSCSI hardware and software vendors are willing and able to collaborate with each other to avoid interoperability issues from day one. With iSCSI, IP storage networking is not years down the road, but a viable option now.''

FalconStor's iSCSI interoperability demonstrations are available at the SNIA Emerging Technologies Section. FalconStor's IPStor will be configured to act as an iSCSI `target' to offer the virtualized disks to the iSCSI applications and/or behave as the `initiator' to store/retrieve data to/from iSCSI-ready storage devices over the IP network. The companies contributing to the interoperability demonstrations are:

IBM, TotalStorage IP Storage 200i family of network storage appliances
Cisco, iSCSI Storage Router
Intel, PRO/1000 F Server Adapter
NetConvergence, iSCSI Initiator and Target mode drivers
Alacritech, TCP-accelerated Server Adapters acting as iSCSI HBA
Commenting on these partnerships, ReiJane Huai, President and CEO of FalconStor, said, ``We are pleased to be collaborating with industry leaders to ensure the interoperability of IPStor with iSCSI and other protocols. Today's demonstrations are more than proof of iSCSI interoperability; they show the viability of a well integrated, certified, optimized, and deployable IP-based storage networking solution.''

IPStor is the first software to aggregate and virtualize diverse storage resources via industry standard interfaces including SCSI, Fibre Channel and iSCSI, and provision storage in the form of SAN and/or NAS over IP. IPStor will be available on April 30 via select partners who are certified by the FalconStor Channel Partner Program.
