If you have to pay something off today, then you need the cash
today...not two months or even two weeks down the road

True, but couldn't he have borrowed a cool mil at some single
digit interest rate, then covered at some time in the future?
Surely he has a broker, or a buddy who owns a bank, or even
a buddy with a lot of spare cash around who would offer this
to him?

I know life is complicated, but if he was sure about the
(immediate) future of this company, I think he might have
found a way not to sell these shares. I've been going back
and forth on this for the past two days, so if I post again
trying to convince you that of course he had to sell, please
don't give me a hard time about it.

Best,

William
