US DVD player sales up 200.7%, in the latest week. The growth trend so far this year, suggests that Worldwide DVD player sales will reach 32M units. The current est. is 28M. C-Cube should sell 10M ZiVA units this year..........

According to VideoScan’s First Alert Reporting Retailers, for the week ending April 9, 2001, DVD title sales were 1,802,000, down from the previous week’s sales of 2,126,000, but still well above par. Year-to-date sales are 27,491,000, up 160.9 percent over sales in 2000!

DVD player sales are really taking flight this spring! According to the Consumer Electronics Association (CEA), for the week ending March 30, 2001, DVD player unit sales to dealers were 409,763, up 200.7 percent from this week’s sales in 2000, and nearly double the previous week’s sales of 242,447! Month-to-date sales are 1,207,489, up 192.7 percent over March 2000 sales and year-to-date sales are 2,335,376, up 97.3 percent over sales in 2000.

VCR deck sales; however, are still in a slump. Sales for the week were 654,252, down (15.9) percent from sales during the week in 2000. Month-to-date sales are 1,667,848, down (19.9) percent from sales in March 2000 and year-to-date sales are 3,597,364, down (21.8) percent.
