Remind me of Intel, Cyrix, and AMD. Cyrix and AMD certainly take care
of a lot of potential competitions for Intel.

I think your observation is quite astute. I am, too, not sure now that IOMG
wants to finish off Syquest, since it seems to be no longer a major threat
to the Zip or Jaz. The LS120 is the only potential competition to Zip which
IOMG must focus on.

In terms of price/performance, the Syjet will give the LS120 a run for
its money, although neither can compete with the Zip. Keeping Syquest
around may be a prudent thing to do to keep the LS120 sandwiched
between the Zip and the Syjet - with no room for maneuvering/improvement
in either direction. In the end, it just get squeezed to a slow death.

The Syjet, though, could give the next generation of Zip drives some
competition, unless the intro price remain at the $200 or below level.
