Richard, my point was that the street never acts in a very logical manner either on the upside or on the downside. at any point in time. The pricing and appreciation of the Dot coms was neither logical or rational, thus the problems we are now encountering.

then you might as well flip a coin.

For short periods of times that could work. Would your portfolio have looked any better for the past year if you just flipped a coin? Keep in mind that it would have keep you out of the market on half the stocks you now own.
